Malin Ryberg

Visual Artist Malin Ryberg is based in her hometown Stockholm where she lives – with her dog Buffy on one of the city’s many islands. She’s spent most of her adult life in the Netherlands where she also completed her studies, with a joint degree from the Royal Academy of the Arts Den Haag and the Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam.

Her work goes beyond obvious depictions to become pathways to alternate realities – conceiving abstract landscapes, characters or undefinable emotions that are equally familiar as alien. In close conversation with mysticism, folklore & fairytale, Malin contemplates memory, nature and and self-actualisation – ultimately,

interconnecting, or blurring, boundaries between what we deem real and unreal. 

With intuition central to her process, she likes to think through painting and, this way, stay in touch with the subconscious.
